Town of Rekovac is located some 25 km away from Kragujevac and 30 km from Jagodina, by the Dulenka River. It stretches over the hills of Gledicka Mountains, in the upland region known historically as Levac, which is one of the most pleasant parts of central Serbia. Natural resources include hilly countryside between Juhor and Gledicka Mountains, pure spring water, rivers, gorges, medicinal herbs, game. Cultural monuments from different periods, belonging not only to Serbian history, are the key traits of this region: Neolithic settlement at the foot of the Blagotin hill, sever medieval towns, Kalenic monastery, old churches in Velika Krusevica, Oparic, Preradovac.

There is a long tradition of farming among the population of this region, and thus the agricultural production is the dominant branch of local economy. However, the resources are not used sufficiently. The major problem is that land is divided into small properties. Also there is a lack of financial incentives and options to place the goods. Raspberry, strawberry and blackberry growers united in the Fruit Growers Association submit their project proposals to various donors in order to provide adequate conditions for the work in this branch of agriculture. Over 5000 tons of blackberries, raspberries and strawberries are produced annually, which represents a basis for the development of fruit growing in this municipality.

Rekovac Municipality strategic plan is based on the development of agriculture, village tourism and the production of health food. "Polet" Company in Belusic is significant enterprise in the production-processing domain. Other enterprises operating in the municipality include ZAD "Blagotin", Cable Factory "Provodnici", I. T. "Branko Krsmanovic", etc.

Natural attractions, ideal for holidays and relaxation play a major role in the development of tourism. Levac region is well known for its ethnographic sights, folk architecture, live folklore and naive artists. Experience tells us that cultural heritage and traditions are best preserved in ethno-museums and ethno-parks. In that respect, Rekovac municipality has come to a decision to establish the "Kalenic" museum in the open, whose role in the future development of tourism, preservation and presentation of cultural heritage is manifold.

Social and economic preconditions are there for the development of Rekovac Municipality, as well as the perspectives, and they should be definitely utilized.
